Steve J. Balch (P.Geo.): Principal Geophysical Consultant
[precious metals, base metals, magmatic sulphides, graphite, uranium]
Steve Balch is an Ontario registered geoscientist with 32 years experience in geophysics, specializing in the magnetic and electromagnetic methods, but also with experience in large exploration compilations. After working at Inco for six years in the Sudbury Basin and at Voisey’s Bay, Steve joined Aeroquest in 2001 and helped develop the AeroTEM system, focusing on the on-time measurements of the linear triangular waveform. In 2007, Mr. Balch founded Triumph Instruments and developed the AirTEM system, a multi-coil helicopter-borne EM system that is now in use in Mexico, China, Canada and Eastern Europe. Steve has also been active in borehole geophysics and has worked to develop new technology including north-seeking gyros, temperature compensated induction conductivity probes, UAV-based magnetometers and high sensitivity magnetic gradiometers.
Wei Qian (PhD, P.Geo.): Senior Geophysicist (EarthProbe)
[precious metals, base metals, copper (porphyry/stratiform), magmatic sulphides, uranium]
Wei Qian, a member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) and the Saskatchewan Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (SAPEG), he has more than 25 years of experience in mineral exploration for a variety of commodities on projects from around the world. Since 2001, Dr. Qian has worked for numerous geophysical survey companies including Fugro and Quantec, carried out research at the University of Toronto to develop the EarthProbe system for mineral deposits delineation, and worked for KMS Technologies from 2007-2009, located in Houston, Texas, to develop a marine EM system for offshore hydrocarbon exploration. A Ph.D. in exploration geophysics from the University of Uppsala, Sweden in 1992, Wei has worked in North America, Asia and Europe. He is experienced in running all kinds of geophysical surveys, data processing and interpretation, and targeting. His experience includes base and precious metals, uranium and nickel-copper-PGE. In 2010, he joined Caracle Creek as a Senior Geophysicist and worked to commercialize the EarthProbe geophysical technology. Dr. Qian is fluent in English and Mandarin.
Robert Gordon (MBA, FGC, P.Eng.): Senior Geophysical Advisor (Director)
[precious metals, base metals, copper (porphyry/stratiform), magmatic sulphides, uranium, potash]
Rob Gordon graduated with a B.Sc. Eng. in Geological Engineering (Geophysics) from Queens University and an MBA from the Ivey Business School at University of Western Ontario. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario and holds an Honorary Fellow from Geoscientists Canada for his extensive volunteer work with the APGO. Mr. Gordon spent over 7 years with Caracle Creek (2008-2015) as President and Operations Manager; he remains a Director and Partner in Caracle Creek. With over 30 years of mineral exploration experience, Rob started his career with Anaconda Canada and subsequently held progressive roles with Echo Bay Mines, Covello, Bryan and Associates, and Terraquest as a Geophysicist, then spent 7 years with Dighem, a helicopter EM survey company, where he was involved in all aspects of helicopter EM, Magnetics and Radiometric surveys. Rob is currently with Quantec Geoscience where he has spent more than 12 years of his career in marketing and developing new technologies for the industry.
